Surgical Dentistry

Dr Jane Pellew is a fully qualified and experienced Adelaide dentist with 4 years of surgical training at Guy’s Hospital in London. This means we can provide a full range of surgical dentistry treatment and procedures in-house without having to refer you externally. Surgical dentistry would normally involve the removal of a tooth or the placement of implants.

Because of the nature of the treatment, excellent dental pain management and a reassuringly high level of patient care are our number one focus. We pride ourselves on making you feel comfortable and getting the job done right. We can help you with the following surgeries.

Dental Implant Placement

A titanium screw is placed in the jaw and a new, ceramic tooth mounted on it. In dentistry today this is the most common way to replace a tooth after an extraction. It is safe, minimally invasive with a very high success rate, and implants have great longevity. Learn more about dental implant placements.

Extractions

Extractions, or tooth removal, are often carried out because the damage or decay is too great for the tooth to be saved. Some extractions are also required for Orthodontics or tooth straightening, as well as due to impaction and lack of space as seen with wisdom teeth. Learn more about dental extractions.

Orthodontic Extractions

Quite often to allow enough space for all of our adult teeth some have to be removed. This can be baby teeth to allow space for erupting adult teeth. Or it can be adult teeth if there is a lot of crowding. These would usually be performed following a plan from an orthodontist, and the extractions can be done here at Pellew Dental with sedation, so it is easy and stress free for both parent and child. Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are the large teeth at the back of the mouth which erupt (emerge) between the age of 18 and 22 in most people. They can sometimes be left alone, provided they are healthy. However impacted or overcrowded wisdom teeth can cause problems, which is why extraction is often required. Learn more about having your wisdom teeth removed.
