Crowns

What Are Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns are custom-made restorations designed to cover and protect damaged, decayed, weakened, or cosmetically compromised teeth.

They act like a protective cap over the natural tooth, restoring its strength, shape, and appearance. Crowns can be made from a range of materials, including porcelain, ceramic, metal, or a combination of materials, and are carefully crafted to blend seamlessly with your natural smile.

At Pellew Dental, we provide high-quality dental crowns that restore both the function and aesthetics of your teeth, helping you chew comfortably and smile with confidence.

Expertise You Can Trust

Dr Jane Pellew’s advanced expertise in veneers ensures every smile makeover is performed with precision, artistry, and attention to detail. With extensive experience in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, she designs custom veneers that enhance natural beauty while maintaining function and long-term oral health.

After completing her general dental degree, Dr Pellew undertook further training in advanced cosmetic and restorative techniques, including smile design and aesthetic ceramic restorations. This allows her to create veneers that perfectly match each patient’s facial features, colouring, and personal goals.

Her work focuses on transforming smiles affected by discolouration, chips, uneven teeth, or wear — restoring balance and harmony with lifelike, durable materials.

At Pellew Dental, every veneer treatment plan is tailored to the individual, using digital imaging, precise shade matching, and minimally invasive methods to achieve stunning, natural-looking results that last.

How Do Dental Crowns Work?

The dental crown process typically requires two visits to Pellew Dental.

During your first appointment, one of our experienced dentists will prepare the affected tooth by removing any decay and reshaping it so the crown can fit securely. An impression of the tooth is then taken, which is used to create a precisely fitted, custom crown. A temporary crown may be placed to protect the tooth while your permanent crown is being made.

At your second visit, the temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is carefully fitted and bonded in place using a strong dental adhesive. Your dentist will make any necessary adjustments to ensure a comfortable bite and a natural, seamless appearance.

Why Might You Need a Dental Crown?

A dental crown may be recommended for a variety of reasons, including:

  • To protect a weakened tooth
Teeth weakened by decay, cracks, or large fillings can be reinforced with a crown to prevent further damage.
  • To restore a broken or worn tooth
Crowns can rebuild teeth that have been fractured or worn down over time.
  • To support a tooth with a large filling
When there is little natural tooth structure remaining, a crown provides strength and stability.
  • To hold a dental bridge in place
Crowns are often used to anchor dental bridges that replace missing teeth.
  • To improve the appearance of a tooth
Crowns can enhance the look of teeth that are discoloured, misshapen, or uneven.
  • To restore a dental implant
Crowns are placed on dental implants to replace missing teeth, restoring both function and appearance.

By choosing Pellew Dental for your dental crown treatment, you can feel confident knowing you’re receiving high-quality care, tailored treatment planning, and long-lasting results.
